Animal Assisted Reiki
What is Animal Assisted Reiki and how does it work?
Animal Assisted Reiki is exactly as the name describes, a reiki treatment with an animal companion to guide your session and assist in relaxation. In Dynamic Life Wellness's specific form of this therapy, we use our CGC Therapy Dog named Laddie.
Normally our reiki service are performed on the massage table but with this service we typically provide it on the floor with a yoga mat and pillows or a small cot. This allows Laddie to sit next to you, snuggle with you and interact with your energy field.
Dogs are naturally intuitive, especially when it comes to the emotions of their human counterparts. Dogs are known to reduce cortisol levels in humans and promote dopamine release. This reduction of stress is what allows the Animal Assisted Reiki to be more effective than typical reiki. When your mind is more open to receiving, the reiki energy is more likely to flow effectively and remove blockages.
About Laddie and How This Service is Performed
Laddie is a 6 year old golden retriever. He was a rescue at 6 months old from an abusive situation. He spent the first few months in his new home very afraid of new people and completely shut down. Through training, love and consistency, Lad came out of his shell. He is such a loving dog who is always looking for attention and to provide comfort to those around him.
This Service is provided in our clients home like all of our services. If you have other pets like dogs or cats, we ask you to consider if this service is right for you. Even if your dogs or cats are friendly, we do ask that they be calm and put into another room either in a crate or behind a door. If you suspect your pets may be uneasy with another dog in the home or don't have a space to contain them, this might not be for you. We can arrange to meet in a public space like a park or an outdoor space of your choosing!
It is our hope with the continued growth of our business to have a mobile massage vehicle like a small bus to perform treatments at your doorstep but not in the home. Stay tuned with our business for when we make this transition!
